Summary
Password authentication is an important part of our lives for securing all information, finances and communication. Moreover, they are used to protect the military and governments, electrical grids, and transport networks (such as air traffic control, and the rail network). They protect our accounts, giving access to services; and are critical to organizations and individual users alike. However, the mechanism that is supposed to keep all these facets of our lives safe, is being undermined by users, resulting in security breaches and financial losses. Users nowadays have an immense number of accounts in which they are advised to have unique strong passwords for all, and these numbers will only rise with time. Many users struggle to cope with creating, learning and remembering strong passwords, and will often choose convenience and/or memorability over password security, by adopting insecure behaviors, such as creating weak passwords and reusing passwords. Due to the complexity and individual differences of users, current password research or solutions have not managed to solve the key problems that users experience with passwords. Therefore, there is a need for a new radical innovation, that is developed based on the root cause of the password issues, that meets the needs of a wide spectrum of users; while being familiar to users, and yet embracing the future with seamless digital technology. We have a unique idea, through using our expert knowledge of the human memory, the user interaction with technology, and information security. The solution is a new seamless authentication system and device to support all digital services, making security manageable again without increasing security risks, and finally bringing password authentication into the 21st Century.
