Research interests
I am a doctoral student of general history in the Department of History and Ethnology. My doctoral dissertation (Locking Away Dangerous Minds: A Comparative History of Finnish and Irish Forensic Psychiatry Between 1885 and 1992) compares the history of Finnish and Irish forensic psychiatry from the perspective of three key disorders: psychopathy, mental retardation and schizophrenia. The topic of my Master’s thesis (The Black Sheep of Society: History of the concept of psychopathy in Finland from the 1970's to the present) was the history of the concept of psychopathy in Finland during the last half a century. Alongside the history of psychiatry and psychology, I am also interested in psychometric intelligence tests and the philosophy of free will. During my free time I am also an avid chess player.
