General description

I work at the Department of History and Ethnology as a PhD candidate. In my dissertation, I study the development of Finnish vocational education system and the actors who influenced it in the 20th century. It is important to study the history of education since education is always linked to other social issues, such as debates on equality, social structures and the economy. By studying the history of vocational education, we gain also broader understanding of the processes that (vocational) education is facing today.

I am actively part of Hela's research focus Well-being, Sustainability and Education.

In addition to my work with my dissertation, I work as the editorial assistant of the journal Kasvatus & Aika, as a communication secretary for Helan tutkijat -association, and as a board member of the Finnish Network for the History and Philosophy of Education. In the academic year 2023-2024 I will work as a lecturer at the Department of History and Ethnology and as a part-time teacher at the Open University of Jyväskylä.
