General description

Biography

I am professor in mathematical and statistical ecology. My focus is in the development of statistical methods that help making more out of ecological data, as well as in the development of mathematical methods that help developing ecological theory. My current main areas are joint species distribution modelling, species identification from DNA, audio and image data, and agent-based modelling through spatio-temporal point processes. I lead the ERC-Synergy project LIFEPLAN that surveys wordls biodiversity with DNA, audio and image, and develops statistical methods for the analyses of those data. Currently I am an Academy Professor at the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences at JY, and I am a leader of the Predictive Community Ecology (PredCom) research group.
