Research interests
The goal of doctoral thesis is to investigate and analyze the effects of long-term habitual physical exercise especially on use of alcohol, smoking, morbidity and mortality among Finnish former male elite athletes, their brothers and controls. Alcohol- and smoking-related health problems are global issues, and both of these addictions cause human distress and great expenditures in a society. So, this research is remarkable from viewpoint of individual and public health.
