Research interests
Dr. Marleena Mustola, Senior Lecturer of Early Childhood Education at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, specializes in multidisciplinary childhood studies. She received her PhD 2011 in Art Education from the University of Jyväskylä. At present, she works in a project OIVA – children's rights and participation in ECEC, preschool and first grades. She serves as a board member of the Finnish Society for Childhood Studies, as an editor of JECER - Journal of Early Childhood Education Research and as a section editor of Open Education Studies. She has edited books and special issues and published articles in several national and international journals as well as in edited collections. Her current research interests include children's rights and participation, posthuman philosophy, children's literature and culture, art education, digital games, childhoods in social media, and children’s relationship to technology, material objects, nature, and animals.
