Conversion and disposal of various types of plastic and rubber products will significantly increase due to the European Union's Waste Framework Directive and due to the increasing landfill costs. The purpose of this study is to provide additional information about inorganic additives in plastic materials and their effects on the environment. Research will focus on the determination of inorganic additive concentrations used in plastic materials and the development of analytical methods used in the determination. Particular attention is paid to the initial substances known to have toxic effect such as mercury, antimony and lead.
