Research interests
Research interests by Professor Keijo Häkkinen are broad within the Biology of Physical Activity but the major interests focus on acute neuromuscular and hormonal responses and long term adaptations during strength training as well as during combined strength and endurance training in men and women at different ages and in athletes from various sport events. He has also investigated physical performance profiles and competitive performance in various sport events as well as seasonal and detraining adaptations in weightlifting, track and field, basketball, volleyball, football and ice-hockey etc. Research information obtained is important from the scientific point of view and it is also valuable for various practical applications.
