His doctoral dissertation deals with narrative analysis of psychosis and its treatment. He is a family therapist on advanced specialist level, and he has been a group facilitator in the treatment groups for men who have battered their partners. He is a professor in clinical psychology and psychotherapy research since 2015. He is a head of the Department of Psychology since 2018.

His research focuses on processes of interventions for intimate partner violence among others group treatment for batterers, couples therapy and virtual reality interventions. He is the responsible researcher in research projects on group treatment for batterers and on couple treatment in intimate partner violence. He was co-pi in the EU funded VR per GENERE project which aim was to reduce intimate partner violence through the deployment of cost-effective prevention and rehabilitation tools based on immersive virtual reality.
