Research interests

Maarit Virolainen is a post-doctoral researcher at the Finnish Institute for Educational Research. Her research has concerned organizing learning from work experience as a part of school-based learning (e.g. internships of the universities of applied sciences) and transitions from post-compulsory education to work and higher education. Recently she has studied for example the Nordic models for organizing vocational education, (in the project Nord-VET funded by NordForsk, see http:// http://nord-vet.dk/), and how various models of Nordic vocational education support transitions to higher education and to the world of work.
