Research interests
High quality drinking water from your own tap and the disappearance of wastewater to the centralized treatment system are considered as granted in Finland. Tuula Tuhkanen is studying the fate of organic matter and nutrients in the urban hydrological cycle. Most of the matter is harmless and can be considered as a resource but some compounds, such as pharmaceuticals, can cause a potential risk.
