Current research: People as keepers of intangible industrial heritage -project (2020-2022)

I am currently working as post doctoral researcher in the multidisciplinary research project carried out at the University of Jyväskylä, Department of History and Ethnology in collaboration with the Museum of Varkaus. The project will collect and research intangible industrial heritage of work and know-how from the early 19th century up to the present day, in the industrial town of Varkaus. We are especially interested in processes: how industrial know-how, skills and expertise have been built up, developed, mediated and changed over the past two hundred years, e.g. through learning by doing, development of the vocational educational system, technology, changes in working conditions, and practices.

PhD thesis: Transnational marriage. Spousal choice and marriage practices among Kurds in Finland (2020) (written in Finnish).
