General description
As an associate professor of physics my speciality is experimental nuclear physics. At the moment I am studying structure of atomi nuclei, namely the most exotic ones that need to be produced in a labpratory. I also carry out instrument development for nuclear physics experiment that I execute in Accelerator Laboratory of University of Jyväskylä and other international infrastructures (FAIR, CERN). I also manage the national contribution of intruments to FAIR, which is an accelerator laboratory under construction in Germany.

Research interests
My research programme consists of studies of the structure and dynamics of an atomic nucleus at the extremes of proton-to-neutron ratio. Since such nuclei reside far from stable nuclei they have to be produced in accelerator laboratories. The use and development of novel measurement techniques and spectrometers may be relevant for the development of new technologies.
