I'm developing a system that will allow us to study nuclei that not only don’t exist in nature but when we produce them in the laboratory they are so rare that it’s impossible to study them in detail with existing techniques. We aim to investigate nuclei that play an important role in astrophysical processes and in the creation of elements in the early universe and others that exhibit interesting modes of decay and shape coexistence. And within an international collaboration we will contribute to the development of pure radioisotopes with applications in cancer imaging and treatment.
