LIAK Production of novel lithium ion battery chemicals as a part of value chain Project aims at producing new information on the preparation and thermal stability of lithium ion battery chemicals (electrode materials). Especially, novel Li-ion battery chemicals tailored for full-scale industrial production are developed. First aim is in the chemical processing methods (high-temperature processes, hydrometallurgical processes) with high yields and purity of Li-ion battery chemicals. Electrochemical properties and thermal stability of battery chemicals is also studied. Second aim is in new information of heat treatment of spodumene, new knowledge of Co precursors as well as thermal stability of Li-ion battery chemicals. Project increases the competence of participating universities but also business potential of participating companies by providing new solutions of battery chemicals and production technologies. Research environments of earlier projects will be used and further developed.
