General description
My name is Stefan Baumeister Ph.D., M.Sc. (Econ.), Diplom-Betriebswirt (FH) and I am a Senior Lecturer and Adjunct Professor at the University of Jyväskylä, School of Business and Economics. I have defended my doctoral dissertation with the title "An Eco-label for the Airline Industry - Instrument for Behavioral Change?" in June 2017.
Since 2012, I have been acting as a teacher and instructor in the Corporate Environmental Management Master's Degree Program. In 2016 I was appointed as supervisor of Master's Theses and since 2019 as a Ph.D. supervisor. Starting from 2022, I have been acting as the Program Director of the Corporate Environmental Management Master's Degree Program. In addition to that, I have also been appointed to the School of Business and Economic's Education Development Committee for the term 2022-2025. In February 2022 I was awarded the Title of Docent (Adjunct Professor) in Aviation from the Faculty of Built Environment at Tampere University.
My research has appeared in leading journals of my field such as Transport Policy, Journal of Transport Geography, Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment, Case Studies in Transport Policy, Environmental Impact Assessment Review, Journal of Cleaner Production or Environmental Research Letters.
In addition to that, my research has also appeared widely in the media such as in YLE TV1 news, YLE MOT and YLE Radio as well as in Helsingin Sanomat, Iltasanomat, Taloussanomat and many regional Finnish newspapers. Besides that, I have also been acting as an advisor to the Government of Finland in questions related to transportation policies. I have been selected to the Finnish IPCC working group by the Ministry of Environment for the years 2024-2028.
During fall 2019 I was a Visiting Research Fellow at Griffith University, School of Engineering and Built Environment in Brisbane, Australia. During 2014-2015 I was a Visiting Graduate Researcher at the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) under a Fulbright Scholarship.
I am also an active member of the JYU School of Resource Wisdom and editorial board member of Wisdom Letters.
Starting form 2023 I have been a board member of the Association of Researchers and Teachers of Jyväskylä (JYTTE) and been selected as a board member of the Finnish Union of University Researchers and Teachers (FUURT) for the years 2024-2025.

Research interests
Climate change is seen as one of the biggest challenges humanity has ever faced. At the same time transportation has become on of the major contributors to climate change. With my research I try to find cutting edge solutions on how to mitigate climate change impacts of the transportation sector through market driven approaches and technological innovations.
