Mika Skippari


General description

Dr. Mika Skippari holds a PhD from strategic management at Tampere University of Technology (2005) and Master´s Degree in economic history at the University of Jyväskylä (1999). He is appointed as an adjunct professor (Docent) at the University of Tampere. In addition to University of Jyväskylä, Skippari has worked at the University of Tampere (Research Director), Aalto University (Senior Researcher), Tampere University of Technology (Post-doc Researcher), and Arizona State University (Visiting Scholar). He has also done short-term research visits to California State University at Monterey Bay (USA), Friedrich-Schiller University at Jena (Germany), Surrey University (UK), and Marquette University (USA).

His research interests include retail strategies, business-government relations, and stakeholder management. His research has been published in journals in the areas of marketing, management and business history, such as Business & Society, Industrial Marketing Management, International Review of Retail Distribution and Consumer Research, and Business History

He acts as an editorial board member and ad-hoc reviewer in several international journals. He has run numerous externally funded research projects. He has taught courses and supervised theses in all academic levels (Bachelor, Master´s, MBA, Doctoral) in marketing, strategic management, and business history.
