Successful internationalisation and formation of international networks among family-owned firms is an important topic relevant to policy makers, entrepreneurs and management consultants. About 85% of all the firms in Finland and the EU are family-owned. However, many of them are small and domestic companies, struggling in international operations. If family firms in Finland succeed in growing internationally, even at a moderate pace, the stimulus to the Finnish economy will be tremendous. Finding best practices for internationalisation of family firms is, hence, of utmost importance.
