In my research I have focused on digital technologies, aging, digital inclusion, everyday life aspects of digital technology use, and digital ethnography. I have also studied social media influencers and commercialisation of social media.

Biography

Riitta Hänninen is an Adjunct Professor (Docent) working as a Senior Researcher at the Centre of Excellence in Research on Ageing and Care, Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of Jyväskylä, Finland. She is also a co-leader of the WP6, New Technologies, Ageing and Care at the CoE.

Research Areas

Dr. Hänninen’s research interests include digital technology, aging, digital inclusion and the relationship between technology and care. She has also studied social media influencers and commercialisation of social media. Methodologically Dr. Hänninen has focused especially on digital ethnography as well as collaborative and qualitative research methods in online environments.
