General description

I work as an Academy research fellow in the Gerontology Research Center. I develop novel methods for physical activity assessment using wearable sensors, and use the methodology to study the effects of physical activity on health. I also write a science blog on physical activity monitoring in Finnish in https://liikkuvalabra.fi/

Research interests

I work in the field of exercise science to develop methodology for physical activity assessments and to understand the relationship between exercise dose and response. I am currently using wearable technology such as accelerometers and heart rate monitors to quantify physical activity. The aim is to quantify physical activity both in absolute terms and individually relative to exercise capacity, and examine the dose-response relationship of exercise and health.
