Research interests
I have a background in researching public administration and social policy. I have several year's experience conducting research in the areas of social enterprise and public policy.
I completed my MPA in Urban Administration at University of Seoul. This led to my interest in researching civil society and social enterprise in delivering social services and work integration. In 2018, I obtained research Master degree in Social Policy and Social Work from University of York (UK). I investigated the UK’s social enterprise policy from 2006 – 2016. Adopting a qualitative design, it shaped mostly significant themes in threefold: community empowerment, social investment and partnership through evidences obtained from document analysis (contents & thematic analysis).
Prior to joining the University of Jyväskylä, I had worked within a social cohesion research team in Korea Institute of Public Administration (KIPA), a government-funded research institution under the Office of the Prime Minister, to undertake research project investigating policy compliance in terms of public conflict resolution, policy process and policy evaluation. As well as the policy knowledge acquisition, it was the best experience to learn and practice both qualitative and quantitative research methods in professional level. While I was studying in the UK, I have kept working with KIPA as an International Cooperate Researcher UK, simultaneously with teaching undergraduate student as module demonstrator under the PGWT programme of University of York. I also participated in several research projects conducted by Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs (KIHASA) as a co-author regarding to network analysis of community welfare (UK), welfare service delivery system (UK), regional disparities and social and health service inequalities (Finland).
I am currently employed as a Doctoral Student in the Centre of Excellence in Research on Ageing and Care RG1 (led by Prof. Teppo Kröger from CARPO, funded by Academy of Finland, 2018-2025).
My current research focuses primarily on the governance of third sector organisations in delivering eldercare services. My research interests especially hinge on the co-production mechanism between actors across the sector, sustainability issue of TSO, and the way of providing stable and sufficient care service for older people.
