Research interests
To produce empirical evidence, this study was initially designed as an efficacy study including field-testing of a research test version of a literacy support game app originally designed for Finnish first/second language children, with adult migrants. Experimental field-testing of with adult literacy learners was planned for 2020.
Due to the disruptive effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was not possible to carry out the classroom-based testing,
Realizing the potential of participatory design with teachers, I turned my research focus towards a participatory, re-design approach with in-service Finnish language and literacy teachers who tested, evaluated and re-designed a research version of the literacy support app 'Professori Pörröpää ja Lukukupla' developed by the AllRead research project team at the University of Jyväskylä.
