Summary
The project surveys the spawning success of landlocked Atlantic salmon and brown trout in the new reproduction channel, Laurinvirta, in Kuurna in the River Pielisjoki. The redds are counted and marked after the spawning period in autumn, and some embryos are sampled from redds in spring to identify the fish species in DNA analysis. Thus, the start of natural reproduction of the two salmoninia species in the new channel is estimated.
