Summary

The research explores the relationship between temporal constraints and musical creativity in expert jazz improvisation. It examines how tempo and harmonic rhythm are related to creativity, defined as the generation of novel, unpredictable, and valuable ideas or other kinds of products. The research contributes to a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in musical creativity and improvisation. It also offers new interdisciplinary perspectives for research fields that are concerned with the relationship of mind and time and contributes to the current multidisciplinary debate on the differences between different forms of creativity. The research is also of practical importance, as its results can be used in music education.
