Summary
The target of ROBA is to create robust algae cultivation systems so that in 2030, microalgae are contributing
substantially to carbon capture, are a reliably sourced and scalable raw material for a large variety of
applications and play a part in the bioeconomy, both in Finland and worldwide.
The Spectral Imaging Laboratory (University of Jyväskylä) focuses on novel combination of sensor fusion and machine learning for on-site process control of microalgae cultivation. Additionally, intervention and recovery strategies from near-crashes for algal cultures and customer perception of algal products from cultures grown on flue gases will be investigated.
