Summary

We propose to combine nanoscience and neuroscience for developing flexible and biocompatible nerve-machine interface for future neuroprosthetics. Our aim is to solve a major problem in the current technology based on hard and bulky materials, which are not compatible with soft tissues, such as nerve cells or the brain. Via this initiative, Finland has an excellent opportunity to become a significant international player in this field. In addition to the tremendous long-term prospects for improving human lives, this project also develops novel technology that will create new industries.
