Summary

The 26th Annual Symposium for Music Scholars in Finland will bring together a diverse range of researchers and practitioners working in music-related fields, including aesthetics, cognitive science, composition, ethnomusicology, historical musicology, music theory, neuroscience, performance, philosophy, psychology, sociology, therapy, and wellbeing. The theme of this year’s symposium is “Music and Connection”, and a series of invited keynote addresses and peer-reviewed proposals will explore the diverse ways in which music can open and enhance as well as obstruct and discourage both within- and between-person connections. The aim is to promote a dialogue between individuals and groups working in disparate music-related fields in order to more effectively share concepts, definitions, and methodologies, as well as technical and practical knowledge across disciplinary boundaries.
