Summary
New technologies, like IoT and 5G/6G, and advances of digitalization in critical infrastructures, as well as the increase in data availability and volumes in services, raise the need for novel effective and efficient cybersecurity solutions. The threat landscape has become wider, and systems are prone to more sophisticated cyberattacks. Better proactive solutions are needed, the reactive cycle is insufficient. Threat hunting is the practice of proactively searching for cyber threats. Adaptive security approaches incorporate threat-driven knowledge to the target systems. Systematic approaches for threat hunting and adaptive security solutions are potential to prevent large-scale cybersecurity incidents in the world where cyber threats are more and more emphasized.
In the CENTRE co-creation project, University of Jyväskylä (JYO) will plan, together with companies and academic partners, co-innovation project focusing in advancing threat hunting and adaptive security techniques, and building related ecosystem. International collaboration in the co-innovation project will be an essential part, with consortia from Nordic countries. Potential customers and their relevant ecosystems will be recognized and evaluated in co-operation. Validated solutions offer a notable potential for new international business.
Challenges of cybersecurity evolve dynamically, where potential innovations need to be brought to market in time if they are to have any chance of success. CENTRE will also develop a roadmap, with initial steps and working model needed to establish a collaborative ecosystem for proactive cybersecurity in Finland. The working model connects practitioners and academia, especially from Finland and Nordic countries, but also from Europe and elsewhere.
