Summary

Purpose of the project is to study the utilization of artificial intelligence in structural health
monitoring of buildings and property. The repair costs of property in Finland alone are billions of
euros annually, to which artificial intelligence could bring substantial savings potential. Structural
health monitoring is internationally significant study but in Finland is still in its initial phase. Constant
monitoring, need for repair, and anticipation of need for repairing are part of structural health
monitoring. Based on our groups finding, there does not exits unified database, to which
shortcomings of buildings and properties would've been collected in real time. This type of unified
buildings database will enable national and international business possibilities and will respond to
quickly growing demand.
