Summary
Doctoral dissertation dedicated to speculative realism, a recent phenomenon in contemporary philosophy. This term originates from the title of the conference, participants of which – Quentin Meillassoux, Raymond Brassier, Graham Harman and Iain Hamilton Grant – agreed particularly in opposing to the post-Kantian abandonment of the philosophical questions about the absolute as a thought-independent reality. This expression has promptly spread in contemporary philosophy, literary studies, art, and theology, and started to signify a certain philosophical movement. The aim of the dissertation is to suggest an effective conceptualization and contextualization of speculative realism, since there is no academic consensus concerning these matters.
