Tiivistelmä

The transnational project SAMEurope (Student Athletes Erasmus+ Mobility in Europe) aims at implementing the recommendations of the “EU Guidelines on Dual Careers of Athletes” (2012) on the European dimension of dual careers in sport. Higher education Institutions (HEIs) encourage students to experiment a mobility abroad, however studying in a foreign country while participating in high-level sport competitions represents challenges, in addition to the pressure that students involved in a dual career must deal with in order to improve their sport performances and succeed in studies. The taskforce gathers 5 European Universities from France, Finland, Germany, Spain and Sweden, and will deliver (a) an IT tool designed as a mapping of Erasmus+ mobility opportunities for dual career students at European HEIs that have a dedicated support service or section. The consortium aspires to improve the inclusion of dual career students in the Erasmus+ programme. (b) a guide addressed to any HEIwilling to tackle dual career students’ special needs and barriers in the frame of their Erasmus+ mobility project. By sharing experience and good practices in this field, the team will be a creative force to co-develop innovative mechanisms leading to improving the support to dual career student’s Erasmus+mobility. c) a sociological study on the benefits of a mobility on dual career students, both regarding the development of their sense of belonging to a European Sport Community and regarding the additional skills acquired for their professional as well as for their sport careers. This project is innovative and has an added value to the EU as a) It is the first project to deal with the Erasmus+ mobility of dual career students, b) It will increase their inclusion within the Erasmus+programme, c) European HEIs will benefit from the project in order to optimize their dual career programme, d) It will serve both the dual career students to better self-promote, the companies to become aware of such special profiles and the European Sport Community to strengthen.
