Tiivistelmä
Quantum computing technologies have advanced rapidly. The potential of these technologies has been widely recognized, and there is a common expectation that quantum computing has a major potential for disruptive effects on numerous fields of industry. In general, Finnish enterprises are aware of this new potential, and many of them are in a position to start investing in using quantum technologies. However, for many organizations it is unclear on which aspects of quantum computing to invest in, and when is the suitable moment in time to do so. Questions that need to be answered includes topics such as when quantum hardware will be mature enough for company- specific use-cases, when is the right time to invest in quantum software development, and which parts of the quantum computing stack provide the most added value for a given organization.
In this project, we seek practical, bottom-to-up advice for organizations with respect to starting their quantum journey. Our starting point is use-cases identified together with collaborating companies. The use-cases as the major driving force, we will study hybrid quantum-classical algorithms and the development of quantum software, hardware, and codesigns involving both. As the concrete output, we produce practical quantum programming demonstrations, benchmarking demos, and educational material.
