Summary

The general aim of the project is to investigate and develop hybrid quantum-classical computation and other technological solutions where quantum information processing is assisted with a classical computer. Quantum information is a different type of information and can benefit from quantum resources, such as coherence, entanglement, contextuality and incompatibility. However, quantum information has not only new possibilities but also different kind of limitations, such as no-cloning and no-information-without-disturbance. Therefore, the combination of standard information processing and quantum information processing is particularly interesting and promising direction as in near future it is likely that quantum advantage is not overwhelmingly evident but only narrowly achieved in specific tasks.
This objective of the project is two-fold: firstly, to examine and determine the fundamental bounds that govern the fusion of quantum and classical information processing, and secondly, to devise novel approaches that combine quantum and classical methods in practical tasks of computation and communication.
