Summary

The project responds to the need to bring a new generation of measurement technology, such as artificial intelligence processors, high-frequency radars and next-generation machine vision cameras to be used in elite sports research testing and training. The goal of the project is to find out the uses and applicability of the aforementioned technologies in the measurement, testing and training use of elite sports and to apply new measurement technologies to track the aiming point in shooting sports, for which the current device used has reached the end of its life cycle. The long-term goal is to enable more versatile shooting performance measurement, testing and training possibilites, as well as increase the readiness to apply new generation technologies to improve Finnish elite sports success
The project consists of two work packages, with which 1) the application possibilities of new generation measurement technologies in elite sports are investigated and 2) a prototype of a wireless aiming point tracking device to be attached to a rifle is designed as a pilot project. With the project, research testing and training of shooting sports will be diversified and its continuity will be guaranteed in the unique conditions created in Vuokatti. In addition, CEMIS operators are better equipped to develop and support Finnish elite sports in terms of measurement technology.
