Summary

Today, dogs are members of human families. Why do we turn to dogs so eagerly-what are the processes behind the across-species friendship? This project examines the mechanisms, synchrony and individual modulators of human-dog interaction with complementary research methods, from the viewpoints of both humans and dogs. The modulatory effects of personality and temperament, empathy, human-dog relationship and experience are sampled by owner questionnaires, and a large database of dog behavioral tests is utilized as a source of the background data in dogs. This project will aim in bridging the methodological gap in comprehending human and non-human animal minds.
