Summary

This project will focus one of the most relevant aspects in early childhood education, namely, the relations among children and adults, that are fundamental for high quality ECEC, having significant impact on child’s social, emotional and cognitive development. To be able to investigate the institutional context that enable and afford particular child-adult relations and the day-to-day construction of these relations, this project will scrutinize the ‘critical moments’ for the establishment and negotiation of the relations, namely, diverse transitions from home to ECEC and from one ECEC setting (and peers/adults) to another. More precisely, the focus is on the nonverbal and verbal dialogues and engagements of the child with peers and adults in the changing time-space configurations.
