Summary
Effect of different resistance training methods on the development of maximal force production capacity is somewhat conflicted within the scientific literature. Specifically, there are a limited number of studies which have directly compared the impact of training with concentric (CON) and eccentric (ECC) resistance training methods with the upper body. Therefore, the primary aim of the present study is to examine the impact of ten weeks of CON and ECC training on neuromuscular and hormonal responses to training. Additionally, there is limited data which directly examines the acute neuromuscular, metabolic and hormonal responses to training sessions which only contain CON or ECC training interventions. Therefore, a secondary aim of this study is to examine the acute responses to training sessions that only contain CON or ECC bench press training.
