Summary

The project brings together researchers and stakeholders working on current questions related to second language competences of immigrants working or wishing to work in Nordic countries. In all these countries there is an increasing pressure to develop working-life oriented language education for both newly arrived and settled immigrants, and several development and research projects have already been initiated but without any systematic Nordic collaboration so far. There is a shared awareness of a need for closer collaboration which could pave the way for joint research projects and also enhance collaboration with and between different actors in this field (stakeholders, development projects) across the Nordic countries involved in this project.

Three workshops will be organized in three partner universities: University of Jyväskylä, Stockholm University, and University of Copenhagen. The themes reflect the research profiles of these universities in the field of working life oriented second language development.
