Summary
This research proposal includes two phases. The first one is longitudinal follow-up study where we track students’ motor competence, perceived competence health-related fitness, motivation/values towards physical activity, engagement in physical activity and body weight from Grade 5 (11-years of age) to Grade 11 (17–18 -years of age). The second phase of this research project includes two separate three-months interventions for Grade 5 and Grade 8 students. The purpose of the interventions are firstly to identify students who have weak motor competence, health-related fitness, perceived competence and who are sedentary, and secondly, to implement specific intervention the purpose of which is to develop their motor competence, health-related fitness, perceived competence and to promote their engagement in physical activity.
