Summary
Finnish Olympic Commitee has decided to centralize winter and summer sports in few operating environments.
Summer sports are located to Helsinki and winter sports to Vuokatti-Ruka environment.
Goals
The main goal of the project is to start the expertice- and research and development (R&D) work and to develope the
quality management and the management system in both locations of Winter Olympic training center, Vuokatti and
Kuusamo.
Operations
Expertice work contains following operations: 1. Creating operating model for expertice work in Vuokatti and Kuusamo
2. Hiring a sports medicine specialist to develope the health care of the athletes 3. Hiring a physiotherapist to
Kuusamo.
R&D work contains following operations: 1 Creating operating model for R&D work 2. Hiring a specialist for slope
sports 3. Hiring a specialist for endurance sports. Both of these specialists work in co-operation with the responsible
person of the R&D by defining and implementing the R&D needs of the sports.
Developing the model for the quality management and the management system.
Results
Project enables the expertice and R&D work to start faster and more comprehensive and offers contiuity to this work.
As a result a working model for expertice, R&D and quality management and the management system will be created.
During the project the external funding from the Olympic Commitee and from the areas will increase finally fulfilling the
resource needs of the Olympic training after the project. Due the effect of the project a more expertice is gathered from different fields to the both locations, Vuokatti and Kuusamo. Also the co-operation between the different operators (Olympic Commitee, municipalities, Olympic training center, sports academy, sports institute and university) will increase. The greater expertice, which is the results of the project, will aid the whole area of Olympic training center, Vuokatti and Kuusamo. Also new attractive work possibilities among top-level sport s will be created to the areas which will interest the new specialists.
