Summary
The COVID-19 pandemic is health, economic and social crisis that affects societies at their core. There is a pressing demand for new scientific knowledge to respond to the challenges we are facing during and after the epidemic. The University of Jyväskylä (JYU) is a multidisciplinary university with a wide spectrum of research areas which can meet this demand and contribute to the prevention and mitigation of the COVID-19 epidemic both locally and globally. Researchers at JYU have initiated far-ranging efforts to confront the ongoing pandemic. Our sub-projects include research on treatments, prevention, and monitoring of COVID-19. Our researchers develop tools for decision-makers and epidemiologists. We offer scientific knowledge to support children, youth, families, teachers, ageing people and those in vulnerable situations. Overall JYU’s project comprises of sub-projects that show great promise to produce implementable results to mitigate the COVID-19 epidemic and its consequences.
