Summary

The main goal of the project is to develop safe, scalable methods for oxidations and oxidative couplings in synthetic organic chemistry. Oxidations and oxidative reactions are some of the most challenging reactions to scale up in pharmaceutical production, especially in batch reactions. Nevertheless, increasing the oxidation state of the molecule often provides very attractive shortcuts to synthetic production routes. The goal of this project is to investigate safe oxidation methods based on catalytic. transfer oxidations and other benign terminal oxidants, bearing the scalability and safety always in mind. The project is carried out in collaboration between Department of Chemistry, University of Jyväskylä, and Fermion Oy.
