Summary

The entry of young/new teachers into professional practice and school as an educational organization requires a change of perspective from being a learner to a teacher. Mentoring plays a central role in this transfer process. The project brings together researchers from different European countries to share experiences and research-based knowledge on how to support new teachers.
The aim of the project is to consolidate a European network of researchers on teacher induction and mentoring for newly qualified teachers which has gradually been evolving within EERA Network 1 over the last decade. Symposia and network meetings at ECER conferences have reinforced the idea that research collaboration on induction and mentoring should be established more systematically and formally.
