Summary

-The Finnish Social- and Health Care system is largely developed from a remedial point of view. Although there is
recognition to change the emphasis from corrective to preventive care, tools and applications for this change are still
insufficient. The aims of the AktiVoi project are new product innovations and to create services based on preventive
and pro-active means. The objective is to develop innovations that are based upon people’s ability to improve and
maintain their health and physical functions. The AktiVoi project provides opportunities for welfare and health care
technology companies and private service providers to participate in pilot projects where the target groups include
high-school students, adults in workplaces, and seniors. Within these pilot projects companies are given opportunities
to test and develop new products in a person centered Living Lab environment. The objective is to create pro-active
solutions based on effectiveness and cost-benefit criteria. New innovations are shaped in the Living Lab environment
where the needs of the society, markets, and technology are being simultaneously met.
