Summary
Time of spawning and emergence periods of brown trout are poorly documented in Finland. This projects estimates the dating of the beginning, peak, and ending of the spawning period, and the emergence period of alevins, from South Finland to Koillismaa region. The spawning period is assessed by repeated redd counting on standard sampling areas. The dating of emergence period is assessed by measuring water temperature, and sampling and measuring of yolk sac alevins from redds before the emergence. The results can be used by fishery organizations, fishery regions, fishing tourism companies and fishery authorities.
