Summary

Eritrea Learning For All: Developing Post-Graduate Degree Programs (ELFA 2) is a Higher Education Institutional Cooperation project that supports development of Post-Graduate degree programs of the College of Education, Eritrea Institute of Technology (CoE/EIT) in 2018–2019. The ultimate aim is to improve the quality and relevance of education in Eritrea, thereby contributing to poverty reduction, human rights and achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The immediate beneficiaries are teacher educators and the indirect beneficiaries are students and teachers in Eritrean schools. CoE/EIT and the Faculty of Education, University of Jyvaskyla, have defined three result areas for the capacity development project: research-based education development, quality Master’s degree programs, and project coordination. The project design applies an action research approach to capacity development with an emphasis on the Eritrean contexts of teacher education and education. The project activities include research projects conducted by Eritrean faculty staff, development of teacher education materials, co-teaching, mentoring, study visits, conference presentations, and project management. The activities are combined with up-to-date learning materials and tasks that contribute to university degree studies.
