Summary

In this Academy Professorhip -project, physical, chemical and bio-compaible properties of nanostructured metal-molecule -interfaces are studied by theoretical and computational methods. The research focuses on metal nanoparticles and nanostructures protected by organic ligand molecules, aiming at new breakthroughs for their use as catalysts, sensors, theranostic agents and bio-compatible labels. The research is carried out in the Physics and Chemistry Departments and at the Nanoscience Center (NSC) of the University of Jyväskylä, in collaboration with research groups at NSC and with several foreign groups, including Chemistry Nobel Laureate Roger D Kornberg from Stanford.
