Summary

The COCOA project aims at introducing control elements into synthetic, artificial catalysts, sensors and activators. We will follow the blueprint of Nature where these control elements that modify the shape and activity of natural catalysts, enzymes, are very common. These control elements would assist in optimizing the performance of the artificial species, and they would be controlled by anions that are common and readily available. We will pursue a multitude of applications in synthetic catalysts, anion sensing, and activation for enzyme catalysis.
