Summary
The research explores the relationship between temporal constraints and musical creativity in expert jazz improvisation. It contributes to knowledge on the relationship between temporal constraints and creativity, the factors influencing the creativity of jazz musicians, and the importance of action planning and anticipation in jazz improvisation among top-level musicians. The research is also useful for the purposes of music education and contributes to the understanding of processes involved in jazz improvisation. The research may also create new interdisciplinary perspectives for research fields that are concerned with the relationship of mind and time.
