Abstract
The functions of synthetic macromolecules are currently limited by our inability to control their folding beyond static secondary structures. Introducing mechanical entanglements may provide a solution to this problem by enabling the creation of new types of folded structures that can undergo complex conformational transformations in response to external stimuli.
